Protein making, also known as protein synthesis, is the process by which cells build proteins according to the instructions encoded in DNA.

This process takes place in two main stages: transcription and translation. During the transcription stage, the information in the DNA is copied into a molecule of messenger RNA (mRNA). This happens in the nucleus of the cell.

The mRNA molecule then moves from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, where the translation stage takes place. Here, the mRNA molecule serves as a template for the building of the protein. Special molecules called transfer RNA (tRNA) carry the appropriate amino acid
